World-wide Used Cost-effective LED Street Light

Committed to low carbon economy with enterprises and governments, Climate Group (Climate Group) is urging each city of the world and utilities to change street lights into low power LED street lamp lighting. The group said, compared with the current street lighting, cost-effective LED outdoor lighting can save 50% ~ 70% of energy.

The agency which hosts the New York Climate Week (Climate Week) also launched a global campaign for low carbon - LEDs (Lower Emissions Delivered). The campaign urged local governments, cities and utilities to make full use of the low cost and low carbon and cost-effective LED street light. The climate group noted in Los Angeles, the city has installed 140000 LED lights, can save more than 60% of the energy and $8.7 million a year (5.7 million pounds) of fiscal expenditure.

The climate group declared that if all cities all around the world change street lights into LED street lights, more than half (52%) of the world's demand for electricity for lighting can be reduced. 735 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions which are equivalent to the UK and Spain can be avoided.

In Britain, some committee has already started to implement the work. Green investment bank (GIB) provided funds for Glasgow (Glasgow) and Essex-Sea. GIB is working with other committee to discuss about supporting cost-effective LED street light application. It is predicted that if the whole street lamps of the British are changed into low power LED street lights, 200 million pounds can be saved a year.
